About the Per Diem Report

A free weekly report for traveling electricians and mechanical trades: which data center builds are hiring, what they really pay, and where crews are staying.

Why it exists

Job ads for data center work often bury the per diem, skip the schedule or leave out how long the work lasts. Those are the numbers that decide whether a road job is worth it. We pull them out of the postings, put them side by side and link every one back to its source.

How we check the numbers

  • Pay and per diem come only from public job postings. Each figure links to the posting it came from, with the date it was posted.
  • Everything is rechecked weekly. Before each Monday email we reopen every posting on the board. Closed postings come off, and changed numbers get updated.
  • Conflicts get flagged, not smoothed over. When a posting lists two different numbers, we show both and tell you to confirm before you sign.
  • "Not verified" means exactly that. If we can't confirm an owner, contractor or detail from a public source, we say so instead of guessing.
  • Project details such as owner, phase and timeline come from news coverage and public records, linked on each site's page.

How sites are ranked

Hot Sites are ordered by what matters to a traveling hand: hourly rate, per diem (and whether it's paid 7 days), how long the work should last and how hard the site is hiring. Rankings are never sold.

The Complete Posting badge

A posting gets the ✓ Complete posting badge when it states all four numbers a traveling hand needs:

  • The hourly rate - a real number or range, not "competitive."
  • The per diem - a daily or weekly amount.
  • The hours or schedule - for example 6x10s or 60 hours a week.
  • How long the work lasts - for example 6 months or 2 years.

We judge each posting as written at our last check. The badge is free, it can't be bought, and sponsors don't get it unless their posting earns it.

Sponsors

Employers can sponsor a week or post a job. Paid placements are always labeled "Sponsored," must show real pay and per diem, and never change a site's rank. Details for employers.

Who's behind it

Per Diem Report was started by an independent small-business owner. We're not a recruiter, staffing firm, contractor or union, and we don't get paid when you take a job. Emails and pages are written and checked by the Per Diem Report editorial desk.

Independence

Per Diem Report is independent. We're not affiliated with any owner, contractor, staffing firm or union named on this site.

Corrections and tips

If a number is wrong or a posting has closed, email [email protected] (or see the contact page) and we'll fix it in the next update. Tips on pay, per diem and housing from crews on site are the most useful thing we get, and we never publish your name unless you ask us to.
